    Treatment Programs

Following are some of the animal health areas for which I commonly formulate herbal treatment prescriptions. Should you be dealing with any other condition not covered below, just contact me and I am happy to prepare specific prescriptions. All phone, fax and email consultations are free and have no obligation attached.

    Respiratory Conditions

I can prepare mixes of herbs to assist with coughs, colds, viral attacks, allergic and hayfever-type reactions, breathing problems and chest conditions. These I prepare from a wide range of safe and simple traditional respiratory herbs very specific in their action.

In varying combinations, these can very successfully assist in the treatment of all the above problems.

    Blood Quality and Circulation

The blood is an important carrier of nutrients for the body and particularly of oxygen. We have a great natural pharmacy on hand to help the circulatory system function to its best ability and provide the nourishment required.

There are herbs particularly high in iron and ones which will stimulate the red blood cell production in the bone marrow and the spleen and oxygen uptake in the lungs.

In conjunction with a performance based preparation a blood circulation prescription can assist racing dogs or horses that show poor blood tests and muscle soreness/cramp after work due to an oxygen deficiency in the muscles.

    Skin Conditions

Buildup of toxins in the animal system can cause a wide range of problems including skin conditions.

Though each case differs I can usually find common underlying factors which can be treated with a combination of blood cleansing herbs, diet changes and perhaps some cream prescriptions to be applied externally.

    Antibiotic and Anti-Inflammatory Alternatives

Colloidal Silver was used and proved to be effective against hundreds of disease causing bacterium by the 1940s. It produces no resistance, no side effects, is a gentle and an economic way to treat infection. Internally it is excellent for a wide range of conditions where antibiotics are used and externally it makes a brilliant wash for cuts and sores.

There are a core of pain management and support herbs to assist with the healing of bruising , strains and breaks. You can manage the inflammation associated with arthritic conditions and injuries through the use of herbs , which will not cause any damage to the animal's system with long term use.

Condition Maintenance, Poisoning and Metabolic Problems

Plant poisoning / tick poisoning, over medication, liver damage, major illness and surgery all place great strains on an animal's system and often result in long term disharmony.

I can prepare specific tonics to help the liver and metabolic system generally repair and rebalance to get the animal back on its feet and recovering condition.

    Kidney Troubles

Canine: The kidney very quickly shows signs of trauma with symptoms such as tying up, bleeding, wetting or a general poor form and condition of the animal and its coat.

There are different prescriptions to assist with these problems. Bleeding can be stopped in an effective manner and tying up eliminated without the use of electrolytes.

Equine Kidney problems in horses show up in the same way as with dogs although it is often much easier to notice a change in the flow, colour and odour of a horses urine.

The various prescriptions I make up to assist with these problems range from simply the addition of Rosehip Tea blended with dried feed, to a special mix of extracts depending on the severity of the problem.

Tying up can be eliminated without the use of electrolytes.

    Nervousness, lack of confidence, timidity

These are common problems in humans, horses and dogs.

The nervous system requires nourishment, just as the rest of the bodily systems do, to ensure the messages are recieved and transmitted correctly and that the whole nervous system has adequate protection against stress.

This is often overlooked, and behavioural problems treated with pharmecutical preparations to 'sedate' or 'de-sensitise' the nervous system.

Besides retraining to correct bad habit patterns therefore, the herbal approach will always utilise a class of herbs known as 'Nervines' which provide the specific nourishment required. Training and herbal treatments working together, allow us to be able to work toward a permanent solution to nervous system problems.

It is a straight forward matter to select the appropriate herbs, after a consultation, and make up a custom prescription for your particular animal.

    Performance and Presentation Mixes

We cannot make your dog or horse go faster or jump higher artificially but we can support peak health and ensure he can go his fastest when required and 'back-up' as often as required.

This may mean a blend of heart and lung herbs, kidney and adrenal herbs or even a blend of metabolic and nervous system herbs.

Show animals must look good and feel good and the main ingredient for this is perfect health.

It is possible to present an animal well if there are minor or short term problems on the day. Just as we can fake it for a day or so. Consistant winners however, need to be suported by perfect health.

We can provide a great deal of individual advice, upon request, to suit all competition animals.

    Tendon, Ligament and Bone Problems

Structural and muscular injuries are the most common class of health problems faced by many dog and horses owners.

With these types of injury you, are usually looking at a long spell (or rest), as part of of the healing recommendations.

This healing can be accelerated, spelling time reduced, and tendon, ligament and bone integrity preserved, with the support of a blend of appropriate herbs and a few natural supplements.

    Arthritis and Rheumatism

Arthritis and Rheumatism needn't be as debilitating as we are led to believe, and a diagnosis need not mean the end of a riding/racing career.

I can formulate prescriptions to work toward rehabilitating the affected structures and reducing discomfort while healing takes place.

Routine overuse of strong pain killers like phenylbutazone, is a major cause of serious side effects.

    Cancer Treatments

I can provide cancer support prescriptions for Osteosarcoma, Lymphoma and Skin cancers of various sorts and have had a lot of success.

As a support for our cancer programs I also prescribe the Maritime Pine Bark.
